The process of creat our website

First of all,creat a new folder on the desktop,and name it group website.
And then we use the photoshop to design a banner,choose a langkawi picture from google.
1.Use the photoshop to open it.Make it size to 876*200.

2.Type in some key words on the banner.change its colour and font style.

3.Save it to folder of website,name it banner.

4.Open dreamweaver.Creat a new site under desktop,name it and choose it path.

Collect some pictures from Google,keep it to floder.

Click Modification - Page Properties,on the backgroud image item,choose a picture.

Then adjust the table's size to 885*875.Put it on the top,and change to align center of its property.

Then adjust the table's size to 900.Put it on the top,and change to align center of its property.

9.Sellect background to each table.On tables' property,we click background image,and choose a image.

10.Type Navigation text on each table.we have four navigation,it means we have 4 pages in our website,they are Home,Culture and History,Interesting activities,and Traffic.

Then adjust those text's colour,fonts,and size on the property.:)

11.Search a video about Langkawi from google,and download it.

12.Using another software to change the video's avi. to swf,and then put it in to folder.

13.Insert video. Click Insert-Media-flash.Choose the video.Make it align center on its property.

Description on the individual ideation of the link

As present idea and for the introduction for langkawi island is to present the history of 

theirs. Basically, I would use time line to describe how langkawi island came about, 

through this, a hope that viewer can know more about the langkawi island.

 

Objective of the link

The objective of this link is to let people know the traffic information of langkawi

 island. To get viewers to get to more interest with langkawi island so that 

information can be share among each other.

On the left hand side, there is a side bar, where it can link it to home, and all the 

various subtopics. on the right hand side, where it can link some video and process. 

In the middle, there will be attachment of various pictures or flash to show the

langkawi island . 

The main one will be clothing and then comes down to three links which is

 ‘flight ticket’, ‘hotel’, and ‘restaurant’. Below all of the sub links, there will

Objectives

A brief description on the topic<Langkawi Island> that will be developed and reason.

We decided to choose Langkawi as our topic.The reason we choose Langkawi is because Langkawi is one of the most famous places in Malaysia for travellers. Every year so many visitors come here and they need to have a good guide website for their vacation.

Langkawi comprises a group of 99 tropical islands lying off the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 30 km from Kuala Perlis and 51 km from Kuala Kedah on the mainland. The main island is popularly known as Pulau Langkawi. The islands are blessed with an intriguing heritage of fabulous myths and legends of ogres and gigantic birds, warriors and fairy princesses, battles and romance. As a natural paradise, the islands are perhaps unmatched anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

With a geological history dating back 500 million odd years, the islands contain unique rock formations that stir the imagination and baffle the mind. Numerous caves with their stunning stalactites and stalagmites, taunt theadventurous to unravel their ancient secrets.

Fine beaches offer sun-filled days of complete relaxation. The clear emerald waters around the islands provide numerous opportunities for a host of water sports and recreational activities. The enchanting marine life beneath the waters of Langkawi's islands also beckon diving enthusiasts.

Airline:

Malaysia airlines MAS and Asia airlines from the Air Asia every day from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi flights. There are many flights, just 50 minutes can arrive it, Penang also have flight to langkawi. There is no bus between downtown and airport. so suggest buy the taxi ticket in the airport, the fee is RM10.

Train:

By train from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar and Perlis of Yalao Arua and then sit taxi or bus to the city of Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis and then take the fast ferry to Langkawi.

Road:

Kuala Lumpur luxurious bus company has a NICE and PLUS LINER, the bus station in Kuala Lumpur train station, PUDU RAYA motor station have dozens of the bus company. The bus to Penang 4 hours ,the luxury bus fare is 45 ringgit, or to achiest KEDAH state and PERLIS about six hours, then change to the ferry.

Boating:

There are have speed boat from the Perils, Kedah, penang and ShaTun to langkawi in addition to the langkawi from Penang’s 2 hours, other place take only 1 hour can arrive in langkawi. Penang organized 8:00 every morning there's a boat langkawi ringgit 35 / one-way, 3-3.5 hours, night to return to 17:30pm. 

Taxi:

There have taxi in the island, short-term 7 ringgit, if you want chartered taxi RM20-25 per hour.

Rent car:

Bicycles, motorcycles, cars can rent. If you are don’t know the road of tourists, and  suggest to charter, white car very clean, good air conditioning, the driver attitude is very good and very polite, they won't pull you to visit sites. Charter the taxi is usually 20 ringgit/hour, but if go north-west mountain, drivers may charge a little higher.

Langkawi hotel:

Langkawi from five star hotel to cheap hotel accommodation, the various grades of choice is very big. Spend RM30 can live to a cheap room with shower, although in the off-season of common room price will be more discounts, but large hotel or high prices, so before the departure, booking good room is very necessary.

The island of accommodation mainly focus on the melon town, and Pantai Kok, Pantai cenang , all of this Pantai area of price is cheaper.

Culture of Langkawi

                                 

      The culture of Langkawi in greatly influenced by the large number of eagles inhabiting the island.  This can be seen in both the name (whose root word is “helang”, meaning eagle) and the large statue of an eagle in the city center. 

      Thailand was for a brief period during the early 20th century in control of Langkawi.  Even though this was only for a short while, the Thai culture is still very prevalent in the area.  There are many Thai restaurants and loads of architectural sights influenced by the Siamese culture.  

      For most of Langkawi’s history, the area was very laid back and life flowed at a slow pace.  Although the island has succumb to modernization, this easy going vibe can still be sensed in the local atmosphere.  In fact, many of the local families living on the island still survive on traditional means, fishing and farming. 

     The tourist scene can be very different than the local cultural scene.  Many resorts on the island now cater to the wealthiest of the world’s tourists, offering luxuries unimaginable to many of the islands inhabitants. 

     The landscape of the island is very beautiful, with lush green jungles and beautiful sand beaches.  Perhaps the perfect visit to Langkawi includes both the new (resort living) and the old (local culture and attitudes).  

Langkawi Food and Fruit Fiesta
While the Langkawi Food and Fruit Fiesta is not representative of any one cultural group, the yearly week-long celebration in July is a feast for the senses for foodies from all cultures and should not be missed.

 

During the fiesta, the island of Langkawi is transformed into a gastronomical paradise, with many local markets, cooking competitions, and street food from all cultures: both Eastern and Western.  The highlight of this celebration is an array of fresh and exotic fruit brought in from all climates for newcomers to try.  There is often so much food that it is impossible for one person to try everything, and a multi-day visit is worthwhile for all!

History of Langkawi

The legendary island of Langkawi that comprises of 99 islands has stirred the imagination of innumerable people who have taken keen interest in the history of the land.
The land which presently belongs to the Malaysia's Kedah state has innumerous legends and folk tales associated with it.
Origin of the name
The name Langkawi can be divide into two parts that includes 'Lang' and 'Kawi'. The word 'Lang' comes from the Malaya word 'Helang' which means eagle. In the past days the land was a home to innumerable eagles. 'Kawi' is the Sanskrit word for marble, which is found in excess in this part of Malaysia. Both these words together joined to form the word 'Helangkawi' which ultimately became as Langkawi.
Another reference found in the book of Tun Mohamed Zahir's named 'The Legends of Langkawi' refers that the place got its name from the twin words 'Langka' and 'Wi'. While the former means beauty in Sanskrit, the latter stands for innumerable. As such the word actually stands to signify many beautiful islands.

Langkasuka kingdom
Langkawi is believed to have its relation to the kingdom of Langkasuka which has its connections with the Malaya 'negeri alang kah suka'. Though scanty record can be found wit regards to the origin of the dynasty, a Chinese Liang dynasty records states that the kingdom of Langgasu had its origin in the 1st century AD.
The capital of the kingdom is located in the foothills of the Kedah Peak. Popular belief is that the kingdom came to existence when the Hindu king Bagatta paid a tribute to the Chinese king.

Mahsuri

                                  Many acknowledge Mahsuri to be the sole reason for the success of Langkawi. As known from the legend the rule of Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah II saw the arrival of a man named Pandak Maya. After eating some magical grain his wife gave birth to a beautiful daughter who was named as Mahsuri. But after marrying Mat Deris, the son of the chief of Langkawi, she was accused of adultery. False accusations led her to the death bed.
It is believed that when she was stabbed white blood gushed out just to prove her innocence. As such the land was cursed. To counter it a mausoleum was erected and the family was welcomed back to the island.

Siamese attack
The years following Mahsuri's death saw the Siamese attack the land in 1821. In order to fight the enemies Dato Kerma ordered the burning of a village granary, remnants of which are still present today. This incident was succeeded by a host of misfortunes that fell on the land.

British rule
After the Sultan of Kedah ruled for a long time the land came under the British rule for a brief spell of time during the colonial period. The Anglo- Siamese treaty of 1909 transferred the land to the British who retained as rulers till Langkawi achieved its independence.

Thai monarchy
When the bloody World War II was continuing, Langkawi came under the control of Thai influence. When the war ended the land was resided by a large number pf pirates who find the forests of the land an excellent hide-out.

Recent developments
Progress till the 1970s was to a limited extend. In the mid 1980s when the land was relieved of its curses of seven generation, the government took special promotional plans and programmers to promote the place as a popular tourist destination.
Today boasts of its modern infrastructure and advanced technology that are a major driving force of the land.

Though the land has been relieved of its curses, the legends and the tales associated with the land shall continue ever to fascinate the people.

Interesting activities in Pulau Langkawi

Snorkelling

In Langkawi, snorkelling and diving can be done in the Pulau Payar Marine Park, which is 19 nautical miles off Langkawi Island. Langkawi does not have any proper dive or snorkelling spots, but Pulau Payar is a fantastic place for such activities that some consider even on par with Tioman and Redang. The simplicity of the setup and arrangement for these activities also make it very accessible for amateur divers. There are daily trips to Pulau Payar that start in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel, on to Kuah Jetty and a 1-hour trip to the island. Many tour operators offer this service which may be booked from counters in Kuah Jetty next to the car park and waiting area. Snorkelling gear is provided in the packages and you get a snorkel and a pair of flippers.

Once you’ve reached the jetty, you can simply jump into the water and begin snorkeling. Indeed, the rich coral gardens in the immediate waters are wonderful, teeming with small and colourful creatures such as fish, shrimps and eels. Look out for the baby black-tipped sharks that come often to these waters. The water gets to around 4-meters deep before you reach a line of floats that has been suspended from one side of a cape to the jetty, for safety purposes.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is another activity that’s offered by the tour operators to Pulau Payar. Once you book a trip to the island, the operators will approach you on the ferry to see if you’re interested in scuba diving. The dive masters provide a one on one guide for those who decide to take up on the offer, so that those who have never dived before can do so. The deeper waters where the operators bring you hold a richer variety of large fish. Guided by experienced divers, you’ll see schools of large fish including barracudas, cod and snappers which are absent from the shallow waters of the beach in Pulau Payar. After an hour or two in the deep water, the divers will head back to Pulau Payar for some fun and relaxation.

Bird watching

Langkawi is home to approximately 200 species of birds, of which about one third are migrants. These migrants winter here between the months of September and April. This tour is suitable for both the serious birder and the birding enthusiast. The open corridor between the rainforest is best for observing rainforest birds. Among the birds we may see are Flower Peckers, Hill Mynas, Dollarbirds, Green Pigeons, Drongos, Tailorbirds, Babblers, Bulbuls, Sunbirds, Eagles, Woodpeckers and Oriental-pied Hornbill

Cable Car

The Oriental Village in the upper northwest of Langkawi Island, near Pantai Kok, is the entrance for the cable-car ride, which takes visitors all the way up to Mount Mat Cincang, Langkawi’s second highest peak. Entering the village and passing through the pleasant oriental garden and souvenir shops, visitors make their payment at a counter before stepping onto an escalator which brings them to the cable-car pedestal. Once in, the cable-car ascends; you’ll begin to notice the temperature dropping and a windy breeze begin flowing into the cabin through ventilation slits at the top. As it gets cooler, the landscape below begins to appear smaller, and at after climbing at a 42° angle for a few hundred feet, you can start snapping pictures of the rainforest below. Look out at the side for a view of the Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls, which cascades down a grey rock face.

Underwater World 

Sprawling 6.2 acres, Langkawi Underwater World can be divided into various sections. Passing the entrance, you will step into the Rainforest Section that makes visitors feel like visiting an open-concept zoo instead of aquaria. In this section, you will be able to see numerous of elegant pink flamingos, living harmoniously with the Mandarin ducks and swans. Colorful parrots and the tiny long-tailed Marmoset live in this section as well. Besides, there is a huge cylinder fish tank in the middle, known as the Freshwater Section, displaying various tropical and freshwater fishes. Next will be the Sub-Antarctic Section. Here, you will see the rare and adorable Rockhopper penguins. Currently there are about 20 Rockhopper penguins in this section and they have been brought into the aquaria since December, 2003. There will be penguin feeding show on a daily basis and it is indeed an interesting show not to be missed. Adjacent to the Sub-Antarctic section, there are fur seals living in the Temperate Section. You can observe how they swim gracefully and play with each other in the huge tank.

  Horse-ridding

Horse-riding in Langkawi is among the premier attractions of adventure sports enthusiasts visiting Malaysia. The lush green valleys and dales of Langkawi seem more inviting to the horse lovers. Who would not wish to ride a fine mare and canter away deep into the sprawling panoramic surroundings? With a mild sunshine and inviting breeze to keep company, most horse riders find Langkawi the ideal tourist destination and others who happen to chance upon this activity while in the island vouch for its thrills.

Island Hopping

The Langkawi Island Hopping Tour takes you on a journey to explore Langkawi’s most illustrious islets. First you’ll be taken to visit verdant ‘Pulau Singa Besar’ – Big Lion Island; the boat stops just shy of the shores and you’ll get the chance to watch the king of the skies – eagles – as they soar overhead. Observe as they dive to catch their prey, chicken bits that the boat driver has thrown into the water, with deadly precision – it’s a great photo and video opportunity. Next head on over to Pulau Dayang Bunting – the silhouette of the pregnant maiden from a distance is truly awe-inspiring; meanwhile the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden – overflowing with supposed ‘magical’ waters is another breathtaking sight. Relax on the adjoining buoys on the shores, dip your feet into the waters or splash and swim around in the enclosed sections. The day ends with a visit to ‘Beras Basah Island’ – or Wet Rice Island – another pristine Langkawi beach with clear waters and far-reaching views of the sea where you can relax and soak up the sun and sea after a day spent trekking up to the Pregnant Maiden Lake and feeding the eagles.

Telaga Tujuh

 

One can easily reach here by hiring taxis, or by boarding buses from the island.  The Telaga Tujuh, precisely called Seven Wells, is a beautifully crafted geological manifestation. While taking the cable car ride to the top of Gunung Mat Cincang, you can perceive the awe-inspiring view of Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls. Located along Gunung Mat Cincang in the north-western corner of Pulau Langkawi, this picturesque waterfall is named such because its gushing water stream is broken by a series of seven natural pools.
